Why do we verify cards?

Like many online stores, we occasionally see attempts from individuals using fraudulent credit cards. To keep our store safe and ensure your card is never used without your permission, we run a simple check to confirm that you are the actual cardholder.

Please note that this is a one-time process. If you are a returning customer, you can simply select the Repeat Customer option in the additional information section during checkout, and you will skip this step entirely.

How the verification process works

If our security system flags a new credit card order, you might receive an email from us with instructions. If you do not receive an email, there is no need to worry.

Here is how the simple verification process works:

  • We process a tiny adjustment: We will debit your card for an amount slightly lower than your checkout total. This adjustment will be anywhere from 1 cent to 1 dollar less than your original order price.

  • Check your bank account: Log into your secure internet banking app or look at your online statement to find the exact amount that was charged.

  • Confirm the final amount: Enter the exact dollar and cent amount when prompted to verify your card on our site. For example, you would type in the full amount like $498.20.

What if I cannot check my internet banking?

If you do not have immediate access to your online banking app, that is completely fine. You can simply give your bank a quick call, and their customer service team can look at your pending transactions to tell you the exact amount. Once you have it, you can confirm it with us.

Alternative payment options

If you prefer not to go through this secure verification step, you can choose to check out using one of our alternative payment methods, such as PayPal, where this check is not required.
